Count your blessings

Waking up to a cold, wet Cape Town filled my soul with joy to the power of infinity. The first thought that crossed my mind was that the rain not only cleanses earth but also the soul. Let’s consider and scrutinize this statement. Without water nothing can grow. When it rains plants, grass and trees gets a breath of fresh air. All the greenery on earth becomes even greener. Rain is like love falling down from the sky. It is insurance of new life. Just like that seeing the entirety of magnificent flora's thirst quenched; the yearning in my soul is filled with hope, joy and love. It creates hope that new life will be brought about. The hope brings about joy like a person seeing the ocean for the first time. Love is instilled by the knowledge of an abundance of beauty and food security. Thus rain is absolutely a blessing. Love is an abstract noun. Meaning that it is non-tangible, but honestly it is not difficult to see the act of love. Let me give you an example: Just the other da...

Home Is Where the Soul Waits

In the relentless motion of life: the endless schedules, expectations, and striving, we often lose sight of something sacred. We chase milestones. We carry roles. We perform. And yet, in the quiet moments, a subtle ache reminds us: something within us is still searching. The Bible tells us, “All souls belong to God.” That truth echoes in the stillness, in the whisper between our overthinking minds and our weary hearts. Because though we may move through the world with busy hands and burdened feet, we are not just bodies or minds—we are souls. And the soul, unlike the mind or the heart, never truly leaves home. The mind is restless. It overthinks, analyses, doubts. It tries to make sense of everything, folding logic around emotion until it forgets to feel. The heart? It remembers love but often forgets its roots—forgetting that charity begins at home , it can wander, looking for comfort in unfamiliar places. But the soul… the soul is different. The soul never left. It stands quietly...

Who am I

The law of conservation of energy is a physical law that states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but only converted from one form to another. This is a law that sticks to me like a thorn on a wool blanket. The full intensity of this physical law is what helps drive me on a day to day basis. If almost everything in this world we find ourselves in contains energy, whether used or stored energy, energy must be a vital thing in this universe! Think of some plants that become dormant during winter or even seeds that can be stored for many years and when conditions become favourable again the plant/ seed becomes lively again. All this research about energy gave birth to the following question in my mind: Who am I? Closely focusing on the human race only, we are physically made of matter. The matter in our bodies is made up of elements like hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, calcium and etc. These elements are build-up of protons (positively charged), neutrons (neutr...

Kicking old beliefs to the curb

I woke up this morning to a cloudy and cool Cape Town. Gratitude filled my soul. You see this is my favourite type of weather. It makes me realise that rain bring growth and new life about. Just like that if I allow the good to live in my heart and radiate to the external world I grow and new pure acts are brought to my life aligning me with my purpose. I feel deeply beholden to the mentors in my life that shaped my journey towards empowerment and self-discovery. Another thought I reflected on is all the beliefs I have left behind, the ones that once held me back, and how I made space for new, lighter, happier truths. Let's unravel the beliefs that once shaped me, and the ones that set me free: Challenging Inherited Truths: Rethinking Right and Wrong We grow up learning that certain ideas, actions, or perspectives are wrong,  not because they truly harm or mislead, but simply because they don’t align with the values we were handed. And while traditions can offer wisdom, they ...

Easy living

Have you ever looked up at the sky on a clear night and came to the realisation that you are so small in the vast universe and you existence is a mere moment in time? Take a moment to analyse the opening question. Seeing the stars above you is a blessing in itself. On a deeper level having a clear night can be compared to having clarity. We are all small in the universe means we can be compared to speck of dust in this world. Also take into account that the whole universe has not been discovered. It is estimated that there are approximately 100 billion galaxies in the observable universe. Time is such a manmade illusion, because we say that we do not have enough time, but the only certainty in regards to time that we have is now. If all above mentioned is true: why then be bound to worldly chains? Well, the answer is quite simple: we think we should live our lives by the world's design. You see this is not reality, it is perception, but to change your perception you are going to h...
