The 'What if' game

How often have you heard someone utter the words what if: What if I went right instead of left? What if I stopped and smelled the roses? What if I was taller? What if no one likes my suggestion? These are just a few of the what ifs I have heard strolling on this remarkable journey called life.

Now I make the following statement to you. Whenever you find yourself playing the what if game you should remember the rules to this game. The what if game needs to be played to the end, just know that monsters live in the dark. Meaning that when you play this what if game it can make you feel despondent. Believe me when I say: life is far too beautiful to waste on a foolish game one that leaves the soul feeling forlorn and stains the spirit with sorrow.

So I invite you right here, right now to notice when you're slipping into this foolish game. Be aware that you have control and choice. This is your life, your rules and your game so why not come up with something that serves you in transforming yourself. Instead of letting it steal your NOW, ask yourself:

What is?

  1. What is true in this moment?
  2. What is beautiful right where I am?
  3. What is possible if I return to the present?
Thus this life, this breath, this heartbeat is far too sacred to waste on imagined sorrow. Let's live here, now and fully. Together.
